How come everyone has scalability problems, but no one really talks about them. People have no idea how to build a fully scalable infrastructure. Google, and Akamai seem to do this very well in general, but for the rest of us we aren't so gifted.

As things, especially in market and financial data scale up, we have a hard time keeping up with it. Look at the breakout of options data, and new regulations which require us to track more data, and shove it all down the pipes we have. We need some smarter burstable technology to handle the mass updates. Someone at work was talking about pulsing data. Cool ideas, minimize the updates per stock to 3 per second versus updating all of the changes to a ticker.

Patching and updating for home and corporate

We all are well aware of the Microsoft patches and windows update.  Same goes for those of us who use itunes and iOS devices, we know Apple Software Update.  Some of us may even patch our Adobe products, which we should since they have been the largest attack vector (http://goo.gl/bOQ3D) for the past 2 years hands down.  This is just at home.... How do you expect the security experts to keep on top of all of these patches in a corporate environment.  The number of patches for Oracle alone is daunting to understand and analyze. Misunderstanding "Open Tracing" for the Enterprise

When first hearing of the OpenTracing project in 2016 there was excitement, finally an open standard for tracing. First, what is a trace? A trace is following a transaction from different services to build an end to end picture. The latency of each transaction segment is captured to determine which is slow, or causing performance issues. The trace may also include metadata such as metrics and logs, more on that later.
